AQA Unit Award Scheme

The AQA Unit Award Scheme is a flexible way to recognise and celebrate everything a learner can do, whatever their age, ability or starting point.

Rather than working towards one large qualification with exams and grades, learners complete short, focused units covering topics and skills that matter to them. These could include cooking, digital skills, teamwork or preparing for the workplace. Each time a learner meets the outcomes for a unit, they receive a certificate listing exactly what they have achieved.

There is no pass or fail, so the focus remains on progress, confidence and success. For home educators, this provides a clear and tangible record of a learner’s achievements, together with a framework that fits around their individual needs.
